Important Information Regarding Home Depot Data Breach

ATLANTA, September 8, 2014 -- The Home Depot, the world's largest home improvement retailer, today confirmed that its payment data systems have been breached, which could potentially impact customers using payment cards at its U.S. and Canadian stores. While the company continues to determine the full scope, scale and impact of the breach, there is no evidence that PIN numbers were compromised. Home Depot's investigation is focused on April forward, and the company has taken aggressive steps to address the malware and protect customer data.

If your Quincy Credit Union (QCU) Visa Credit Card or Visa Debit Card was among those exposed to possible compromise because of this incident, you will receive a letter from us indicating that we have issued you a new QCU Visa Credit/Debit Card. It is extremely important for you to activate your card upon receipt. Call the Toll Free activation number on the sticker from your home phone; destroy your old card and notify us immediately so we may deactivate the old card on our system. If you have automatic deductions on your QCU Visa Credit /Debit Card, be sure to notify the vendors or merchants of your new card number.

Please review your account activity for possible unauthorized transactions and immediately report any such occurrences to us at (617) 479-5558, toll free at (866) 479-5558, or speak with a Credit Union Representative at either branch. We suggest that you check the information as often as possible via our Online Banking site or mobile apps. If you are not currently enrolled in Online Banking or our mobile apps, please contact one of our Member Service Representatives and we would be happy to help you. Our security systems will be monitoring credit card activity and will bring to our attention any transactions that appear suspicious or out of the ordinary. If you have a problem completing a transaction, please contact us and we will attempt to rectify the issue.

It is important to note however, that if we do see fraud starting to occur on your card, we will be left with no choice but to deactivate it immediately. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause, but we must be proactive to minimize any loss. Please make sure all contact information such as email address; cell number; mailing address and phone numbers are update to date with QCU.

We are always here to answer any of your questions at 617-479-5558 or qcu@qcu.org. Quincy Credit Union regrets any inconvenience caused by this situation, and assures you that we will continue to do everything possible to protect and safeguard your financial security, which is our highest priority.

Providing Students Tools for School

In its seventh year, QCU partnered with Quincy Public Schools and WB Mason to provide 600 students at Clifford Marshall Elementary school with backpacks filled with many necessary school supplies. QCU employees worked tirelessly to coordinate the supplies, fill the bags and personally deliver them to the students. The students were thrilled to be greeted by our special friend and mascot, Scottie Saver. Scottie had a good time dancing and cheering on the crowd of children.

Welcome Back Teachers

Quincy Credit Union had a very busy Back to School season greeting thousands of teachers, faculty and students during Quincy, Braintree and Weymouth Public School's New Student and Teacher Orientations as well as Weymouth's Professional Development Day. Students were excited to receive a cinch sac bag with their school logo on it to help kick off the year with some extra school spirit. Teachers were given canvas bags to aid in carrying school supplies or an apple clip to hold notes or photos in the classroom. QCU was very excited to participate and meet so many excited teachers and students as they begin these new adventures!
