EMS Week at Fallon

The third week in May traditionally marks EMS Appreciation Week. For the sixth year in a row, QCU proudly celebrated the dedication and compassion of the employees of its business partner, Fallon Ambulance. Over 200 Fallon employees, Emergency Medical Technicians and staff, at both Quincy and North Quincy locations kicked off the week's festivities. QCU employees were on-hand to distribute appreciation bags containing an EMS paracord keychain attached to a powerful poem honoring the men and women of Fallon who work to keep our communities safe. The day ended with a visit from a traditional summertime favorite, an ice cream truck sponsored by QCU. Reminiscent of childhood days, employees enjoyed selecting their favorite frozen treats.

QCU Supports Weymouth Special Olympics

Hundreds of supporters and volunteers including Quincy Credit Union employees were on hand at Weymouth High School field to cheer on and support their favorite Special Olympians this past Tuesday during the 7th Annual Special Olympics.

Despite the chill and wind, the athletes displayed courage, skill and Olympic spirit as their classmates and families cheered them on. Blades from the Boston Bruins, The Weymouth Wildcat and QCU's mascot, Scottie, joined the grand parade with torch-bearer Kylie P. and the Weymouth Color Guard to kick off the event in grand style as part of the procession of athletes. This year's event was dedicated in the memory of Chapman Middle School student Sam Getman who passed away earlier this month.

QCU Supports the One Fund Center at MGH

With the help of its generous Members and dedicated staff, Quincy Credit Union raised over $1,000 for The One Fund Center at Massachusetts General Hospital. According to the website, its purpose is to "offer ongoing care to those affected by the often invisible, yet persistent injuries sustained during the Boston Marathon bombings. The One Fund Center will bring together resources and medical expertise from the MGH, MEEI and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital to coordinate personalized care and support for the injured and their families." These funds were raised through Boston Strong t-shirt sales, Member cash donations and awareness pin sales throughout the month of April which marked the second anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing. The t-shirt, designed by QCU's graphic designer Eric Sawler, features many famous Boston landmarks including a red line train, Fenway Park, the Zakim Bridge, the Hancock Building, the Massachusetts State House and the U. S. S. Constitution.
